Thirty years ago, I immigrated to Montreal with my wife and two daughters, who were four and two years old. It was the first time I experienced a snowy season. At that time, my father-in-law owned a hair salon in Chinatown, so I would often visit, and enjoy dim sum and other meals in the neighbourhood. Chinatown’s streets and stores were always crowded with customers then, and it was always lively. My business has been affected by various economic problems, the biggest one being COVID-19, when the business was not fully open for more than three years. My health has also deteriorated and impacted my business as well. I hope the City of Montreal can promote different activities to attract more people, those who want to understand the circumstances of Chinatown, and make it lively once more.
